2015 Summer Open Printmaking Saturdays at OCC

Sherie Seltzer and Sandra Wolfson have teamed up to open the Printmaking Studio’s at OCC offering full day workshops on Saturdays once a month this summer! We hope you’ll join us if you’re a printmaker looking for a passionate group of artists who love to work together and experiment with printmaking. We will help you experiment with relief, etching and screen printing techniques. This studio has six presses and a large electric Takach as well as a dark room, a large-scale exposure unit and plenty of space to work! The idea is to encourage experimentation using a combination of different printmaking techniques. We hope to help nurture our printmaking community and exhibit together.

Hike It
If a long peaceful walk on the beach or a hiking trail appeals to you, Crystal Cove State Park is an invigorating place to start. With nearly 2,400 acres of undeveloped woodland and 3.2 miles of shoreline, the park is popular with runners, hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians.

For Laguna Beach resident Sandra Wolfson, spending time in nature brings back childhood memories. She spent her youth growing up in National Parks due to her father’s employment as a chief ranger, so for her, Crystal Cove is a favorite spot to take in the sights and sounds of the outdoor world. “I’m surprised at the many birds in the canyons and their songs,” she says. “I didn’t realize the beauty of the beaches and the amazing rock formations and coastal marine life here until we discovered Crystal Cove.”

These days, taking a hike is not only a form of exercise for her, but also inspires her as an artist. “I am an artist because of my exposure to natural beauty,” Sandra says. “my experience has strongly influenced my interest in nature as a basis for making art. I love exploring the complex beauty of the natural world in all its abstract qualities through drawing, painting, printmaking and screen printing.”
